Book description
In this hotly awaited sequel to Worldshaker, the Filthies are in
control. But violence simmers just under the surface: supplies of coal
are fast diminishing, the acts of a mysterious saboteur are causing
hostility, and the Imperialist powers are massing for war. Col and
Riff's relationship is pushed to the limit as they do all in their
power to preserve the fragile peace. This shattering conclusion to the
story shows Richard Harland at his vivid, energetic best.
Richard Harland lives south of Sydney, Australia, between the green
Illawarra escarpment and a string of golden beaches. He's also close to
the biggest steelworks in the southern hemisphere, which at least
provides imagery for his steampunk fiction. Richard always had plenty of
ideas for fantasy novels, but fell into a bad case of writer's block
that lasted 25 years. He admits to having 30 unfinished manuscripts
still lying in the bottom of a cupboard. He has won five Aurealis Awards
for his novels and short stories. Liberator is his second steampunk
novel, following on from Worldshaker, which has been published in
Australia, the US, France, Germany and Brazil, as well as the UK.
