Mason-Dixon Outdoor Writers Book Award as well as the prestigious
Excellence in Craft Award in 2009. He is the Director of the annual
Virginia Fly Fishing Festival held in Waynesboro, Virginia. Alan Folger,
when not chasing trout through the mountains, can usually be found in
his studio, Clearwater Memories. He is an avid angling artist and
illustrator creating in a variety of media. He is well known for is
illustrations of fish in their environments, several included in this
book. For this book he also provided 45 fly illustrations appropriate to
each water. Folger's fishing travels have taken him to the Ozarks, to
the Rockies, and to his favorite haunts in the beautiful Blue Ridge
