Book description
With her parents' bodies still warm in the ground, Alice Deane is
whisked away by her aunt to be taught how to be a witch. Alice isn't
happy about this - and who would be, with her aunt's brain guzzling
familiar, Spig, out to get her? It soon becomes clear that one of them
will have to go, and so Spig and Alice's bitter rivalry plays itself
out to a gruesome end.
Part of the Storycuts series, this short story was previously
published in Spooks: Witches.
Joseph Delaney is a retired English teacher living in Lancashire.
He has three children and seven grandchildren and is a wonderful
public speaker available for conference, library and bookshop events.
His home is in the middle of Boggart territory and his village has a
boggart called the Hall Knocker, which was laid to rest under the step
of a house near the church.
Most of the places in the Spooks books are based on real
places in Lancashire. And the inspiration behind the stories often
comes from local ghost stories and legends.
