Bernadette Robinson was born in 1944, in Norfolk, to Irish parents. Shortly after, the family moved to Liverpool where her father took up a post as a GP in Toxteth. Aged ten she was sent to a convent boarding school in Dublin. In 1962 she returned to Liverpool to attend Teacher Training College, at the start of the 'Swinging Sixties'. She taught in schools across Liverpool for thirty-two years. Bernadette married in 1966, had two children but eventually divorced. She is now retired and lives happily in Cheshire with her second husband Robby.
