A collection of interviews with M. A. K. Halliday, the founder of systemic-functional linguistics, is long overdue. Halliday's unique standing in SFL is documented by the many interviews and discussions with him that have been published in both print and digital media over the past forty years. This volume brings these together for the first time, document Halliday's personal perspective on the evolution of SFL theory and its many applications. Several of these accounts are now rare or unavailable and the book gives readers the chance to experience Halliday's always illuminating and enquiring approach to language.



The book consists of six major interviews with Halliday, arranged chronologically and with some additional material. An introduction provides relevant contextual information. There is a new, previously unpublished interview with Professor Halliday. This is an essential publication for those interested in SFL and the work of this towering figure in linguistics. J. R.
