Book description
Polly is really looking forward to a trip to the seaside with her best
friends and their boyfriends. It'll be brilliant, all eight of them
together! But then Polly's plans start to fall apart as, one by one, her
friends' relationships hit trouble. Soon she finds herself stuck in the
middle, like some kind of agony aunt. And when Polly finally gets her
day by the sea, will it turn out to be as much fun as she hopes - or
will it be a total disaster? Jean Ure was born in Surrey, where she
still lives today. She started writing at an early age, filling up
exercise books with stories inspired by whatever she was reading at the
time! Her first novel, Dance For Two, was published when Jean was only
fifteen. "I thought that from then on it would be easy", she
says. "How wrong...!" During the next few years Jean took a
variety of jobs to support herself whilst she carried on writing,
including cook, temp, trainee nurse and usherette. After two years
working in Paris with NATO and UNESCO she enrolled at the Webber-Douglas
Academy of Drama where she met her husband, the actor Leonard Gregory.
Jean Ure's career finally took off in the 1980's, with a series of
popular novels for teenagers. She has written numerous books for a wide
range of ages, making her one of the top-selling children's authors of
our time. Jean lives in a 300 year old house in Croydon with her
husband, and their rescued animals.
