James Holland is an acclaimed historian and has been studying and
writing about the Second World War for the past ten years. As a fan of
historical fiction - and that includes Commando comics - it struck him
that there was no Hornblower or Sharpe of World War II and so he
decided to write about such a man himself. So was born Jack Tanner.
