Book description

Dave's mobile went - poor Cleggsy, wanting to know what the Queen was like. "Incredibly nervous," Dave said. "But Sam soon put her at her ease."' We have heard, it seems, every opinion on the rise of the coalition save one: that of the new Prime Minister's wife, Samantha. Star journalist Catherine Bennett has stepped in to give us a glimpse of Sam Cam's first year in Downing Street. What to do about Cherie's nightmare granite'n'pine kitchen? How can Dave's rationingy-austerity-depressiony vibe be harnessed for the luxury goods market? Is there a polite strategy for avoiding Miriam Clegg's bookclub? Catherine Bennett is a British journalist, working for the Observer as a columnist, and also contributing to the Guardian, in which 'Mrs Cameron's Diary' appears. She grew up in Leeds, read English at Oxford, then worked in London for publications including the Sunday Telegraph, the Mail on Sunday, Vogue, Elle, the Sunday Times, The Times and the short-lived Sunday Correspondent. She has written and presented documentaries for BBC2. She joined the Guardian in 1990 and moved to its sister paper, the Observer, in 2008. She has also written as Norman Johnson, Will Duguid and former Labour MP, Ron Scuttle. Catherine Bennett lives in North London.
