Marcus Chown is an award-winning writer, journalist and broadcaster. He graduated from the University of London in 1980, gaining a first class degree in physics, and later gained a Master of Science in astrophysics from the California Institute of Technology. His books on astronomy and physics are aimed primarily at the popular market, and include Quantum Theory Cannot Hurt You and The Universe Next Door. He is currently cosmology consultant for New Scientist magazine.
